A Journey to My Roots: Discovering Family, Culture, and the Heart of Kelantan

When I opened my eyes, the morning light was filtering through the gaps of a beautiful, traditional wooden house. For a moment, I forgot where I was. I stepped outside into the fresh, humid air, and the sights and sounds of a tropical village greeted me. A small, rustic well sat quietly in the yard. Three cars were parked nearby, and chickens roamed freely, pecking at the ground. Scattered across the compound were freshly fallen longan and rambutan fruits, dropping straight from the lush trees above. I

Second Day in Kuala Lumpur: Culture, Heritage, and City Views

Our second day of exploring Kuala Lumpur began with the early morning hum of the city outside our window at the Tune Hotel . After a quick refresh, we were ready to dive back into the heart of Malaysia’s capital. One of the best things about KL is the GoKL City Bus —a free bus service that makes sightseeing incredibly convenient. We hopped on and headed toward our first major landmark: Merdeka Square . The Heart of Independence: Merdeka Square As we stepped off the bus at Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka) , we were immediately struck by the vast, manicured green lawn stretching out before us. This is perhaps the most historically significant site in Malaysia; it was here that the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. The square is a stunning blend of colonial charm and modern pride. Surrounding the "green" are some of the city's most iconic heritage bui...

Kuala Lumpur on a budget: Proving that the best experiences. Part 1

Traveling is often about the transitions—the moments between the destinations that stitch a journey together. Our adventure began after a breathtaking visit to the island of Langkawi. We landed back at KLIA2 (the budget carrier terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport) late at night, feeling that familiar mix of exhaustion and excitement. Kuala Lumpur is a massive metropolitan area, and KLIA2 is situated about 50 km away from the city center. While there are faster options like the KLIA Ekspres, we chose the most authentic and budget-friendly method: the airport bus. For a few Ringgit, we watched the lights of the highway flicker by until we reached KL Sentral , the beating heart of Malaysia’s transit system. It was late, and the KTM Komuter trains had stopped service for the night. We opted for a taxi to our accommodation, Tune Hotel . We managed to secure a fantastic deal—only 8 Ringgit for the ride! Tune Hotel is known for its "no-frills...

Langkawi: A Day Trip Adventure.

For many travelers, Langkawi is a multi-day escape. But if you are short on time and high on energy, a one-day dash from Kuala Lumpur is not only possible—it’s an unforgettable adventure. Here is how we turned a 24-hour window into a whirlwind of clouds, bridges, and Malayan flavors. The Pre-Game: Sleeping at the Terminal Our journey actually began the night before. After flying in from Singapore , we landed at KLIA2 . Instead of venturing into the city, we checked into the Tune Hotel right at the airport. Pro Tip: If you have an early flight, staying at the airport is a game-changer. We woke up refreshed, grabbed a quick coffee, and walked straight to the gate for our 8:00 AM AirAsia flight . A View from the Clouds The flight to Langkawi is short, but if you get a window seat, the show is spectacular. As we cruised north, the clouds parted to reveal Penang . From thousands of feet up, I could clearly see the spr...

Day 2 in Singapore: From UNESCO Heritage to Island Adventures

\ I have a theory about Singapore. Most people think it’s just a giant, impeccably clean shopping mall where chewing gum is the ultimate contraband. But after my second day, I realized Singapore is actually a masterclass in organized chaos. It’s a place where you can spend your morning whispering to a 150-year-old tree and your afternoon screaming at a 4D virtual pirate. If Day 1 was about getting my bearings, Day 2 was a full-speed sprint into the heart of the "City in a Garden." Here is the unfiltered, sweat-drenched, and surprisingly spiritual account of my final 12 hours before the dash to Malaysia.

My Ultimate Budget-Friendly Day 1 in Singapore

Welcome to the start of my Singapore adventure! If you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to see the world’s most expensive city on a budget without missing the "wow" factor, you’ve come to the right place. Singapore is a sparkling island nation where futuristic skyscrapers live in harmony with lush tropical jungles. On my very first day, I learned that with a bit of planning and a pair of sturdy walking shoes, you can experience the magic of this city without breaking the bank. Here is exactly how I spent my first 24 hours in Singapore.
