Magic Planet in Trivandrum is more than just a theme park; it is a world of wonders, and perhaps the only one of its kind globally. My desire to visit was fueled by a long-standing admiration for Gopinath Muthukad, the legendary magician turned social entrepreneur. When my friend Sajjad offered to arrange everything for a Trivandrum trip, the dream finally took flight.

A Seamless Experience

The journey of wonder at Magic Planet runs from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. One of the most impressive aspects is the organization; you don’t have to wander aimlessly. Plenty of friendly staff members are there to guide you through a pre-planned circuit of shows.

Our day began with a vibrant Welcome Dance. From there, we were led to the Intimate Magic Hall, a cozy space accommodating about 50 people per batch. It was here that my son was called up to the stage—the magician "pulled" a ball right out of his nose! The look of pure curiosity and joy on my son’s face is a memory I will cherish forever.

From Classic Tricks to Grand Spectacles

We moved through various segments showcasing Mirror Magic, Balloon Magic, and Paper Magic, each more baffling than the last. However, the Tempest Theatre took things to a whole new level. It was a breathtaking fusion of Shakespearean drama, magic, dance, and state-of-the-art light and sound.

Next was the Circus Castle, where we spent an hour watching jaw-dropping performances. The balance act by an Ethiopian artist was particularly stunning, defying the laws of physics. This was followed by a 30-minute Comedy Magic show that had the entire audience in fits of laughter.

Soulful Magic: The M-Power Show

After a sumptuous traditional lunch at the in-house restaurant, we attended the Mentalist Show, where the performer’s ability to "read" the minds of the audience left us stunned.

But the emotional heart of Magic Planet is the M-Power Show. This features a group of specially-abled children trained by Muthukad Sir himself. Their precision and talent earned the loudest applause of the day. Seeing their confidence on stage was a deeply moving experience that transcended simple entertainment.

The Grand Finale

The afternoon culminated in the Illusion Show at the largest auditorium. It felt like a classic Gopinath Muthukad production—atmospheric, grand, and utterly mesmerizing.

As we moved outside to the area designed like the India Gate, we witnessed a performance celebrating India’s cultural diversity through dance and magic. The shows concluded with the legendary Indian Rope Trick, followed by a grand parade featuring all the performers.

At exactly 5:00 PM, the curtains drew to a close. We left Magic Planet not just entertained, but inspired by how magic can be used to empower lives.
